Windows Vista™ introduces four main power management improvements for desktops and portables. They are: 1. A Power button on the Start Menu that encourages the use of power-saving modes. 2. Restrictions on the ability of applications to interrupt sleep transitions. 3. A new user interface (UI) for managing applications that are blocking system shutdown. 4. A simpler presentation of power management settings.
