USB (Universal Serial Bus) - Definition

USB is the acronym for Universal Serial Bus. This standard type port is what allows a computer user to connect to external devices, which would include things such as scanners, web cams, digital cameras, etc. With the USB, data can be transferred to and from the device. In addition to speed, there are other advantages. For instance, with a USB device, a computer would not have to be restarted when the device is connected or disconnected.
