GHz (Gigahertz) - Definition

GHz is an abbreviation for Gigahertz, which is a signal frequency measurement. This type of measurement can express thousands of million cycles per second. With one hertz being equal to one cycle per second, GHz is one billion cycles per second. The speed of microprocessors, called the clock speed, are measured in Gigahertz. For example, a microprocessor that runs at 3 GHz executes 3 billion cycles per second.
