802.11n - Definition

802.11n is an Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) protocol for wireless networks that specifies a data transfer rate of 100 Mbps and beyond. 802.11n utilizes multiple wireless signals and antennas (called MIMO technology) instead of one. Because 802.11n works in both the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz frequency bands, it is compatible with legacy 802.11a, 802.11b, and 802.11g networks.
